The Enfield Horror haunts the town of Enfield, Illinois, where it set off a panic in the spring of 1973. A resident named Henry McDaniel described a grayish creature with three legs and two glowing pink eyes crossing his yard, and when it came toward his door he fired at it point-blank. It only hissed like a wildcat and leaped away, clearing fifty feet in three enormous bounds. For weeks afterward, the whole town kept watch on its back roads.
