The ghoul is a shapeshifting demon from Arabian folklore, one of the jinn, that haunts graveyards and empty deserts. It often takes the form of a beautiful woman, though it can never quite hide its donkey's hooves. It waits for travelers who wander alone, kills them, and eats them, and when no traveler comes, it digs up the dead and feeds on them instead. Tradition names it a child of Iblis, the devil of Islamic belief.
