An ifrit is one of the most powerful of the jinn, a demon of fire and smoke from Arabic and Islamic tradition. The Quran tells of an ifrit that offers to bring King Solomon the throne of the Queen of Sheba before he can even rise from his seat, though a being of greater power fetches it faster still. Later folklore, especially in Egypt and Morocco, made the ifrit larger and more terrible. It is a creature of the deep desert and the deep flame, and it does not serve willingly.
