Nessie is the monster of Loch Ness, the deep, cold lake in the Scottish Highlands, and no lake on earth is watched more closely. She appears as a long neck and a row of humps breaking the surface, much like a plesiosaur that has outlived its age. People have hunted her with cameras, sonar, and boats for decades, and the search has never stopped. Most of the time, though, she stays down in the dark water and keeps her secret.
