Menace

The Ao Ao comes from Guarani mythology in Paraguay, where it is counted as one of the seven cursed sons of the gods Tau and Kerana. It usually takes the form of a ravenous, fanged sheep, though some describe it instead as a giant meat-eating peccary. It feeds only on human flesh, and it howls "Ao! Ao!" as it chases its prey, which is how it earned its name. Despite this, it is honored as a lord and protector of the hills and mountains, and Paraguayan parents still use its name to frighten their children.
