Menace

The bunyip is a water monster from the Aboriginal traditions of southeastern Australia, and no two descriptions of it ever quite agree. Its name comes from the Wemba-Wemba and Wergaia languages and is usually translated as "devil" or "evil spirit." It lives in swamps, billabongs, and waterholes, and on dark nights its booming call carries across the water. It drags careless people under, children most often, and it guards the waters that are sacred or forbidden.
