Menace

An animated skeleton is a dead person's bare bones, up and moving and ready to fight without any flesh, blood, or breath. It often carries a sword and shield, as though it never forgot the war it died in. In the myth of Jason, the sorceress Medea raises a whole army of them from dragon's teeth sown in a field. In Japan, the gashadokuro is a giant skeleton a hundred feet tall, built from the unburied bones of everyone the wars left behind.
