The Skogsrå is the guardian of the Swedish forest, a woman known as the Forest Lady. From the front she is beautiful, and many a lone hunter or charcoal-burner has been glad to meet her, until she turns and reveals a back as hollow and rotten as a dead tree, or a tail, or a single animal's foot. She rules the woods and everything in them. Win her favor and the hunting goes well; earn her anger and you may never find your way home.
