The Augurielli is a household spirit from Calabria, in southern Italy, that attaches itself to a family's home and stays. It can bring the household good luck, but it torments new tenants with pranks until they earn its favor. Like a magpie, it hoards anything shiny in a hidden stash, so leaving out a small, glittering trinket is usually enough to keep it content.
