How to Play
Every culture on Earth has a monster it swears is real. Portentum puts them all in one deck. You draft cryptids from around the world, build them into a warband, and send them into battles that play out on their own. Your job is everything that happens before the first die lands.
The run
A run is a series of rounds. Each round has two parts: a shop phase you control, and a battle phase that plays out automatically against another player's warband.
- Shop. Spend coins to play cryptids from your hand, buy mushrooms, and arrange your board of up to five cryptids.
- Battle. Your board fights an opponent's. Two dice are rolled each turn, abilities fire based on the result, and it runs until one side is gone.
- Result. Win ten battles to win the run. Lose five and the run is over.
