Threat

The basilisk is the king of the serpents, a small snake from the deserts of North Africa whose venom is so powerful that plants wither wherever it passes. A single glance or breath from it can kill a person outright. Later legends gave it the head and wings of a rooster and merged it with the cockatrice. For all its power, it has three weaknesses: the smell of a weasel, the crow of a rooster, and the sight of its own reflection in a mirror.
