Threat

Champy is the monster of Lake Champlain, the long lake shared by New York, Vermont, and Quebec. It appears as a long-necked, humped creature much like a plesiosaur, and more than three hundred sightings of it have been recorded over the years. The Abenaki and Iroquois told of a great horned serpent in the lake long ago, and the creature has been a local legend ever since. Today Champ is popular enough that a Vermont baseball team is named after it.
