Threat

The Gazeka, also called the Devil-Pig, lives in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. It is a large beast with a long, trunk-like snout, resembling a cross between a tapir and a giant sloth. It was first reported in 1906 by Charles Monckton's expedition, and for a while it was famous in Britain, appearing as toys and lending its name to a character in the writing of P.G. Wodehouse. It keeps to the mountains, well out of reach of anyone hoping to catch it.
