Threat

A kobold is a small, usually invisible spirit from German folklore that shares a house or a mine with people. Treat it well and it does the chores unseen and warns of danger; treat it badly and it hides tools, spoils the milk, and in the worst cases turns deadly. The kobolds of the mines gave their name to the metal cobalt, and the ones that live aboard ships are called Klabautermann. They are close relatives of the British brownie and boggart.
