Threat

The Mahamba is a giant crocodile that hunts the Lake Likouala swamps in the Republic of the Congo, where the Bobangi people know it well. It grows to around fifty feet long, far larger than any crocodile that swims the rivers in the open. It does not bother with a single person; it takes an entire canoe, or a raft and everyone aboard, in one roll of its jaws. The swamp is vast and its water is murky, and the Mahamba has never lacked for room to hide.
