The Menehune are a race of little people who live in Hawaii, said to have arrived long before the first Polynesian settlers. They stand only about two feet tall, and they are shy and secretive, working only at night and never letting themselves be seen. They are master builders: given a task, they can raise an entire fishpond, temple, or road in a single night, then vanish before dawn. The Alekoko Fishpond on Kauai is one of their works.
