Threat

The moai are the giant stone statues of Easter Island, carved by the Rapa Nui people to honor their ancestors. Each one is a forefather made permanent, set on a stone platform with its back to the sea, watching over the living and holding the family's power in place. There are nearly a thousand of them across the island. According to Rapa Nui tradition, the statues walked to their platforms on their own, standing upright and rocking from side to side across miles of ground.
