Threat

The skoffin is the deadly offspring of a male Arctic fox and a female cat, and it carries the cunning of one and the cruelty of the other. Its stare alone can kill: a single look strikes a person dead, and two skoffins that meet will kill each other on the spot. Its kittens are born with their eyes already open, and any that are not destroyed at once burrow into the ground and rise again three years later, fully lethal. In the old tale, the only shot that could bring one down was a silver button marked with a cross.
