Threat

The zaratan is a sea creature so vast that sailors mistake its back for an island, crusted as it is with sand, dunes, and growing plants. A weary crew will land on it, make camp, and light a cooking fire, and the warmth of that fire is what wakes the beast. It dives for the deep, dragging the ship, the camp, and every sailor down with it. Sinbad met a zaratan in the tales of the Arabian Nights and only just escaped it.
