Dice & Triggers
Dice conditions
Most abilities wait on the dice. A condition can look at a single die, both dice, or the numbers together:
- A single die: a die shows a 6, any die is even, any die is greater than 4.
- Both dice: every die is odd, all dice match, all dice are different.
- The sum or product: the dice sum is greater than 7, the sum is odd, the product is 12.
- The high or low die: the highest die is 6, the lowest die is 1.
Because every result has a known probability, building a board is a bet: you stack cryptids whose triggers overlap with the rolls you want, and hope the dice cooperate, or make them work for you.
Events
Other abilities react to things that happen in the fight rather than the dice:
- the battle begins or ends,
- a cryptid takes damage, deals damage, or is healed,
- a cryptid dies,
- another ability triggers, or a status effect is applied.
These are what create combos. One cryptid’s ability sets off another’s, and a single lucky roll can cascade across your whole board.
